Support Networking, advocacy campaign and media program
KESAN works with a number of issue-based networks as part of its campaigning and advocacy work. Our main networking and advocacy programs are:
- Alternative development policies (BEWG's campaign) that meet specific traditional and comprehensive understandings of local sustainability within Burma.
- River biodiversity protection (OROL's campaign) that mobilizes and empowers participants to take an active role in the protection of the health of their river ecosystems for future generations.
- Anti-dams activities that raise and highlight the negative impacts of large-scale dams on the Salween at the national, regional and international levels.
- Environmental Policies and Practices (policy and rural development plan) that are environmentally friendly, culturally beneficial, economically viable and socially equitable which ensure that rural people have an understanding of how to engage in the policy development process and can actively participate in an informed and collaborative manner.
- Media that raises the profile of environmental problems in Karen State amongst local communities, local leaders and exiled media. It also serves to promote and preserve Karen culture, language and traditional practices and is an important advocacy tool for Karen communities
Your contribution will support KESAN’s networking, advocacy campaign and media activities that will strengthen local, regional and international campaigns and networks on rivers, indigenous knowledge and biodiversity conservation. Our campaigns help ensure people’s participation, ownership, gender equity and environmental sustainability in the development process.
