KESAN works to enable community driven activities that aim to improve the management of natural resources, preserve biodiversity and indigenous knowledge, strengthen livelihood security, improve land tenure security and enhance local coping and adaptation mechanisms against natural and human-caused disasters.KESAN’s community based livelihood initiatives and projects include:
- Community forests
- Community herbal medicines
- Food security
- Women’s empowerment
- Land tenure security
- Indigenous knowledge and biodiversity research
